Since 2016, Sigma, the International Honor Society of Nursing, has allowed chapters to add "practice" (clinical) institutions to their charters. Kappa Omicron chapter (https://kappaomicron.sigmanursing.org/home), at CSU, Chico, is seeking to add Enloe Medical Center (https://www.enloe.org/about-us/), Chico CA to its charter, becoming Kappa Omicron Chapter at Large. This merger has the full support of the Kappa Omicron Board of Directors and leadership at Enloe Medical Center.
Reasons for becoming a chapter at large include.
- Offers students and nurses greater access to nursing leaders in the community
- Helps foster greater collaboration between the groups
- Increased the visibility of Sigma in the workplace
- Promotes engagement, satisfaction, and retention of clinical nurses
- Formalizes an already existing partnership between the two groups
- Promotes sharing of resources to empower and educate nurses
Kappa Omicron chapter and Enloe Medical Center have already begun formal collaboration and are applying to make this change. Our anticipated application deadline is February, 2024. It does, however, require a vote of support from current Kappa Omicron members. Please click the link below to vote yes or no in terms of whether you support Kappa Omicron's intent to become a chapter at large with Enloe Medical Center. Please vote as membership participation in this decision is required. This voting will be open for 30 days (closes Nov. 18, 2023).
